Applications

Applications for the 2015 Chowan, Gates & Perquimans County Extension Master Gardener Program are currently being accepted. Training begins September 15 and continues every Tuesday from 3pm to 6pm for 14 weeks at the Agriculture Center in Edenton. The fee is $85. Apply online at go.ncsu.edu/cgpemgapplication . About the program – Under the guidance of Extension agents, Master Gardener volunteers complete a 40 hour training program, pass an examination, and complete a 40 hour internship. New Strawberry
Diagnostic Tool

An interdisciplinary team of  NC State College of Agriculture and Life Sciences extension specialists have created a new, mobile-friendly, database driven tool to help strawberry growers visually diagnose disorders. The new Strawberry Diagnostic Key provides a way to filter by visual characteristics to identify problems. Results include details about the disorders and possible management strategies. The Strawberry Diagnostic Key was developed with funding in part from the Strawberry Sustainability Initiativethe Walmart FoundationUniversity of ArkansasSouthern Region IPM CenterNorth Carolina State University Cooperative Extension Service and the North Carolina Strawberry Association.
