Gates County 4-H youth development recently hosted the Reality of Ag Fair, an interactive learning experience designed to immerse local youth in the world of agriculture. Held at Gates County High School and Central Middle School on April 14th, the event welcomed 75 students in grades 6–12 for a day full of discovery, hands-on activities, and career exploration.

The Reality of Ag Fair featured a variety of interactive stations where students explored topics such as animal science, plant science, environmental stewardship, agricultural engineering, and food systems. Youth had the opportunity to test their knowledge, try new skills, and learn from local farmers, agricultural professionals, and educators.

“Our goal is to help students understand where their food comes from and to highlight the many career opportunities available in agriculture,” said Keli Boone, 4-H Agent with N.C. Cooperative Extension, Gates County Center. “This event encourages critical thinking and builds appreciation for the impact agriculture has on our daily lives.”
